Tigernuts, A.K.A Chufas, have been around for millennia. They are nature’s ancient superfood that played a vital role in the survival of humans on the savanna thousands of years ago. Ancient Egyptians used them for both food and medicinal practices.
Packed with nutrients and antioxidants, these magical tasty tubers make the perfect addition to almost any diet. Unlike the name implies, tigernuts are not a nut, they are a tuber! Making them the perfect replacement for those with nut allergies.

Tigernuts are a tuber that comes from the root of the Cyperus esculentus plant (also called chufa, tiger nut, atadwe, yellow nutsedge, and earth almond). It grows wild in some parts, but it is mostly cultivated in western Africa and Spain.
The closest comparison of dried tigernut taste is chewy little coconuts. They produce a nice, sweet taste as you chew. Unpeeled tigernuts can be chewy to come people. We peel our tigernuts for best enjoyment. Another great trick is to soak them in water for an hour as that gives them a more fresh and crunchy texture.

Our Tiger-Nuts are farmed organically in West Africa. However, we did not go through the organic certification process and therefore, we cannot label it as “organic”.
